The Macle family, owner of Intermiel, knows well Leucan’s mission from the very beginning of its creation. In 1985, at the age of 5, Éléonore, the daughter of Viviane and Christian Macle developed a hepatoblastoma (HB) cancer, also called “child abdominal tumor”, a rare malignant tumor of the liver. This terrible news was a true nightmare for the Macle family in the 80’s as they began the startup of the family business. After a major surgery to remove the tumor and several chemotherapy treatments, Eleonore today 39 years old smiles to life. Raising the family business and mother of two young children (Loïk 7 years old & Aurélie 3 years old), a collaboration with Leucan was a true natural and personal choice.
Both Leucan and Intermiel have been involved with children and families for nearly 40 years. Leucan’s mission “promotes the recovery and the well-being of cancer stricken children and supports their families by providing distinctive and tailored services and assistance through every stage of canacer and its side-effects.” Intermiel, for its part, welcomes more than 100,000 visitors a year, including 12,000 children, to educate and demystify the wonderful world of bees with children and families. The Intermiel bees and the Leucan ladybug was then an obvious and perfect “match”! The choice of the honey bear container for the Leucan cause is well suited for children and families. Intermiel is commited to pay an amount of money to Leucan for all sales of the honey bear container.
